The lethality of nuclear weapons is truly astonishing, and no weapon has ever surpassed it since its inception. When judging a country's military might, nuclear weapons are often the primary consideration. As we all know, the United States and Russia are the most powerful nuclear powers in the world today, with more than tens of thousands of nuclear warheads. China has only a few hundred warheads, behind the US and Russia.
However, many do not know that in the 1990s, there was a country whose nuclear arsenal was even larger than ours, and ranked third in the world, Ukraine.
When the Red Empire collapsed, Ukraine inherited a large number of Soviet nuclear weapons, including more than 170 intercontinental missile launchers,1240 nuclear warheads, and more than 3,000 strategic nuclear weapons. For self-defence purposes, Ukraine has directly stockpiled all these weapons of mass destruction. But after 1992, ukraine gradually began to sell these ballistic missiles, leading some western international media to comment:\" these nuclear weapons will fall into the hands of lawless elements \", and even more people think that ukraine has seriously affected american interests, which is undoubtedly bad news for the united states.
In order to avoid long nights, the United States quickly set its sights on Ukraine. And Ukraine, which has lost the Soviet tree, knows that it has so many Soviet weapons that Americans will not give up on themselves. In addition, Ukraine's overall economy was so weak that it had no money to maintain so many nuclear weapons. As a result, Ukraine's leaders were quick to order the total elimination of these nuclear weapons.
In just half a year, thousands of nuclear warheads in Ukraine have been destroyed. Ukraine's international status has plummeted and its economy has not been able to improve, after abandoning its nuclear forces. Now the whole country is in turmoil and can only be a pawn at the mercy of the West.
